Pull your hair up and the geometry of the halter becomes apparent: two lines rise from the bodice to the neck, leaving the shoulders and armholes exposed. The top gets a clear direction, and the eye focuses on the collarbones, neck and face. At the back, this cut often continues open back, therefore, the dress should be evaluated not only by the face.

Halter can have high neck, but these concepts are not identical. With a high neck, the main one is the closed plane near the neck; the halter has edges that converge to her and a visible shoulder line. From models without straps it differs just as distinctly: there the top has no vertical lines, but here they direct the composition upwards.

In the catalog, the halter is most often seen without sleeves and is well read in adjacent forms - in particular, in silhouette case, straight silhouette and mermaid. The smooth surface leaves the geometry of the cutout as the main focus, while lace, beads or embroidery add top textures. When comparing models, trace where the diagonal begins: closer to the center of the bodice, it looks sharper, closer to the armhole, it outlines the top more widely. With the back open, the front and back angles work as one composition rather than as two separate pieces.

A necklace near such a neckline can conflict with the lines already converging around the neck, so earrings become a logical pair. Gathered hair or a smooth hairstyle will open the shoulder contour, but the final choice is better to make after a photo in front, profile and from the back.
