Ballroom wedding dresses
A ball gown shifts the emphasis to the waist and creates an expressive contrast with a wide skirt, so the top of the figure is clearly read, and the hips are left out of attention. Its scale works best at a solemn ceremony and in a spacious location; for a tight hall, it is worth checking the volume in motion.

As soon as the skirt moves away from the natural waist in a wide wave, the posture becomes part of the image. The ballroom silhouette does not repeat the line of the hips: it builds a new proportion - a defined top, an expressive waist and a voluminous bottom. Such a composition suits a bride who wants a solemn scale, and allows not to emphasize the lower part of the figure.
Proportions, space and movement
The volume looks especially convincing in a high hall, a temple or at a ceremony with a long perspective of the aisle. In a small restaurant or narrow corridors, a practical test is important: is it easy to turn around, sit down and walk between tables. If you want to keep the feeling of a fairy skirt, but reduce its scale, compare the ball gown with A-silhouette — it has a smoother flare and less changes in natural proportions.
The fabric determines the character of the volume. Layers tulle move easily and give a soft contour, while mikado outlines a pure architectural form. Lace adds a pattern to the large plane of the skirt. In the upper part often works heart-shaped cut: it opens the neckline and softens the contrast with the lush bottom; open shoulders expand the horizontal top and also balance the volume.
At the first fitting, evaluate the dress not only in front of the mirror: walk, climb the stairs, sit and look at the silhouette from the side. This will make it clear whether its drama corresponds to your posture and the real space of the wedding. Separately, see how the edge of the skirt behaves next to the partner: a significant radius needs a little more distance during slow dance and joint passage. On samples in Lviv it is worth immediately comparing two skirts of different magnificence - the difference in movement often suggests the choice more accurately than a photo.
