Wedding and evening dresses with a square neckline

The square neckline frames the neckline horizontally and with two straight sides, revealing the collarbones and making the top more graphic. Its width determines how wide the line of the shoulders is read, and its depth - the degree of openness; it is especially important to evaluate the proportion of the straps and the frame on yourself, and not just on the photo.

If straight cut runs one horizontal line, the square one adds two clear vertical lines to it. Together, they form a frame around the neckline, open the collarbones and make the architecture of the top more visible. Compared with rounded cut there is no soft arc here: the corners set a more graphic, modern rhythm.

A wide frame expands the shoulder line more and leaves more open space, a narrow frame draws attention closer to the center. The depth determines whether the neckline will remain discreet or become the main accent of the neckline. They play an important role braces: their width, the distance between them and the point of connection with the horizontal changes the proportion of the entire rectangle. Therefore, two square cutouts can look completely different, even if the center edge is at the same height. In a portrait shot, the angles are particularly clear, so the position of the straps immediately attracts attention.

On A-silhouettes a clear frame separates the gathered top from a smooth flare, the case continues the laconic geometry. Lace softens the corners with a pattern, while satin or mikado show them more cleanly. The floral motif can partially go to the edge and blur the border; beads, on the contrary, illuminate the perimeter and make the frame more visible in evening photos.

It is better to match the decorations with the free space inside the neckline. A short pendant can end in the center of the frame, earrings leave the geometry open, and a necklace with a wide horizontal line risks duplicating the edge. Shoulder-length hair shows the angles and straps in full. At a fitting in Lviv, look at a dress with a front and three-quarter length, sit down and turn your shoulders: this way it is easier to assess not only openness, but also whether the width of the frame corresponds to your proportions. Separately, check whether the corners and straps are symmetrical when you are not straightening your posture in front of the mirror.
