Directed light immediately shows whether the back is read as a solid plane or as a transparent base with a pattern. In both cases, it remains closed because the back part is covered by the material. So the name describes the presence of the fabric, not its opacity, thickness, or specific neck level.
Coverage does not equal opacity
Open back has a visually unclosed area; in a closed contour, the material continues to the shoulders, sides or a defined upper line. High Neck describes the front and upper part near the neck, so it is not synonymous with a closed back. These features can be combined, but are evaluated separately.
On lace trace the pattern through the central and side seams: it can coincide, be interrupted or go to a transparent base. It has a similar visual principle illusion cutout, but the name "closed back" does not specify a specific material or degree of transparency. Find the fastener and see if it is part of the composition or gets lost in the decor.
Check the underwear in daylight, side and artificial light: on a transparent base, its contours can be read differently than in the mirror of the fitting room. Then shrug your shoulders, raise your hands, sit down and turn your body. Take a photo straight from the back and at an angle after each movement to see the stitching, fastening and tension of the pattern.
