Wedding and evening dresses with a belt

The belt draws a visible line around the dress and directs attention to the location, but by itself does not guarantee the correction of the figure. Match it with a structured waist, check the width, center, fastening or ties, as well as the seated and back view.

Take a look at the waist line around the dress: from the front, it may seem like a clear horizontal line, but from the side it can change height due to the cut or tying. The very place of this detail becomes a noticeable accent, but the belt does not guarantee figure correction. It's important to see how it relates to the bodice, the beginning of the skirt, and the side seams, rather than just judging the trim.

A belt and a structural waist are not the same thing

In models with natural waist the belt should be matched with the narrowest line of the body and the horizontal seam of the dress. Basque waist descends with an angle or an arc, a understated passes below the natural level; a direct detail superimposed on them can create a different pattern. See if the belt repeats the design, crosses it, or intentionally forms a separate line.

A thin belt is read as a stroke, a wide one occupies part of the bodice or the top of the skirt. Check the center for the dress's fastening, neckline and center seam, especially if there is a buckle, knot or other accent. If the ends are tied, compare their length and position from the back. Along with beads or trace with embroidery whether the belt does not cut off the pattern and whether the borders of the decor coincide with its edges. Determine the material, method of fastening and decoration only according to the specific model.

Sit down, straighten up and turn both sides to the mirror: this way you can see if the belt stays at the declared height, how it lies on the side seams and what is happening with the ties or fastener. Take a separate picture of the back, because there the detail can end, converge or continue without an accent. A dress with a belt does not necessarily have a removable part, and the belt itself is not always included in the set - this is confirmed by the card or product review. At the fitting in CRYSTAL, compare the two models standing and sitting, keeping the same angle.
