Wedding and evening dresses with accessories
Gathering gathers the fabric into folds and gives them a vertical, horizontal or diagonal direction. It does not guarantee figure correction: judge a particular model by where the lines begin and end, whether they are symmetrical, and how they change when sitting, stepping and turning.

The same fabric changes pattern when it is gathered to the center, in a side seam or diagonally. This is how gathering occurs - visible folds that set the direction of the gaze and create light and dark stripes. The technique itself does not guarantee that the dress will hide the stomach, make the figure slimmer or automatically improve the fit: the effect depends on the location, scale and cut of the specific model.
Each fold has a beginning and a direction
First find the point where the fabric meets. Symmetrical lines can gather to the center of the bodice or waist; asymmetric - leading from the shoulder to the side or crossing the body diagonally. Then trace the completion: do the folds disappear gradually, enter the seam or break off abruptly. Draped bodice describes the construction of the entire top, while the gathering is a separate visible device and may also appear on the skirt or sleeve.
On satin folds are visible through wide light transitions, on lace the direction may partially overlap with the drawing. It is important to look at how the assembly interacts with the seams, cut and cut. IN silhouette case it works on an adjacent plane, in an A-silhouette or a ball gown, it can go from a bodice to a voluminous skirt. These are real combinations, but evaluate the result in each model separately.
At the fitting, take a frontal and profile photo while standing, then sit down and repeat the shot after standing up. See which creases were laid by the cut, and which appeared from the posture; whether the symmetry has been restored and whether the main direction has not shifted. Walk through and raise your hands to see the whole composition in motion. On samples in CRYSTAL match straight and asymmetrical outfits on similar silhouettes — the difference in light and lines will be obvious without promises of figure correction.
